Doing More Of What Makes Me Happy

I’m sure you’ve heard this saying before but I’m serious when I say that I want to do more of what makes me happy. I feel that I’ve been neglecting that lately and need to seriously give myself a stern talking to for the sake of my mental health. When I was younger I was constantly wanting to please other people so I would end up doing less of what I actually wanted to do. I want to make some changes to put me first as well as my family.

I feel that ensuring this in your life is incredibly important, it is good for you and for your mental health. Everyone is encouraged to say yes to chances and opportunities that are thrown your way but if you know that some of these are not going to make you happy it’s OK for you to say no. Put you first.

I enjoy reading and doing my bullet journal those are some of the things that make me happy. it’s time to myself where I can escape just a little bit and enter my own little world. I feel the same way about blogging too.

When it comes to time alone with my son I love taking him out for a walk in his pram even if it’s just into town I love that time that I get with him, we’ve now converted his carry cot on his pram into a pushchair as he loves looking around, Just shows how quickly they grow up, they really don’t stay that small forever.

Cherishing time with my partner is important to me too. We make sure that we have date nights, when we have the money we do like to go out and treat ourselves to a nice dinner or maybe even a film at the cinema. but obviously with our baby boy we often don’t get an opportunity to go out like that all the time so we make our indoor dates just a special. put out a little buffet on the coffee table in the living room and stick a film on, even though it takes us forever to choose what to watch.

Doing more of what makes me happy does wonders for my mental health, I just need to make sure that I stick to prioritising it, otherwise I won’t see the benefits of it.

What makes you happy?
